Bible Verses To Give You Hope

Hope

Hope is such a unique concept. You can't smell it. You can't taste it. You can't touch it. You can't hear it. You can't really see it either, but you sure know when you have lost it. And the loss of hope is one of the toughest and saddest of possessions to miss.

But to have hope is so important. It gives us the courage to go on when the trials of life try to immobilize us. It allows us to harness strength we didn't know we had when the weight of affliction or loss burdens our very core. In its essence, hope is a feeling of expectation that something good is sure to happen.

We all can share stories about tough times and events that shook us up and left us disoriented and unclear about what to do next. My last couple of years really presented challenges out of left field; I lost my father and son seven months apart. A job I enjoyed immensely went away. My wife went into the hospital with Covid-19 and they were unsure if she would make it out. It took about four months for her to make it home and long-term symptoms remain.

When I faced those challenges I relied on my faith, prayer, and Bible verses to allow me to get up each morning and attack the day with new strength. While everything was falling apart and life seemed hopeless to me, I considered the stories of people like Joseph, Jeremiah, Job, and others who wanted to give up and could have but overcame their trials.

I started with some basic principles of my faith. The Bible is God's word. God is no respecter of persons (if He took care of them, He will take care of me). God cannot lie (if He says He'll do it, it will get done).

I chose to believe that even though I did not know the reason my prayers to save my son did not produce the outcome I wanted, He would bring my wife back to me.

I started my day and ended my day with Bible verses to fuel my faith and allow me to rise when all I really wanted to do sometimes is curl up in a ball and lie in a corner.

I know that I am not alone. Whatever you are facing, hold on to hope. Get up and move. Believe in tomorrow. These are some Bible verses I leaned on to get me through. I hope they do the same for you:

The Bible says that God is our "ever-present help in times of need". That means he is always there and available to seek help from at any time, day or night. God will make a way when it looks like there is no way. Just ask.

I didn't have to go it alone.

You don't either.
